      More about T-Mate
    2. Pre-collision system (PCS)
Pre-Collision System can detect and help you avoid collisions with other vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and motorbikes. It works by alerting the driver with audio and visual warnings and brake assistance. If the driver doesn’t manage to brake in time the brakes automatically engage to prevent or mitigate a collision. Additionally, Intersection Collision Avoidance Support and Emergency Steering Assist support in the day when turning at junctions and making evasive manoeuvres.
    3. Full range adaptive cruise control (ACC)
This system keeps you at a minimum pre-set distance from the vehicle in front. If this distance falls, the system reduces your speed and eventually the brakes will be applied and brake lights activated. Full-Range ACC can bring the vehicle to a complete stop should the preceding vehicle stop ahead. A small input on the accelerator pedal or ACC switch will reenable the system. If your car is equipped with Road Sign Assist (RSA), this system will also recognize speed limits on your driving route and suggest any necessary adjustments.
    4. Emergency driving stop system (EDSS)
If the system detects no driver input for some time, audible warnings will alert the driver. If no further inputs are detected, EDSS brings the vehicle to a gradual stop while keeping it safely in lane. Hazard lights are activated to warn other road users, and doors are unlocked to allow emergency services easy access if required.
    5. Proactive driving assist, deceleration assist (DA)
This system supports smooth deceleration when the accelerator pedal is released, when approaching a curve or a preceding car.
    6. Over-the-air (OTA) software updates
OTA software updates ensure Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) is up to date with latest features and improvements.

      Technology that protects
The Toyota C-HR has the technology to keep you safe, constantly monitoring the driving environment and alerting you to potential risks.
      More about T-Mate
    2. Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
This system uses the Blind Spot Monitor radar to help prevent a collision between an occupant’s opened door and a vehicle or cyclist approaching from behind. If there is a risk of a collision, indicators illuminate on the outer mirrors and multi-information display, the interior ambient lighting will turn red together and an audible buzzer will sound to alert occupants.
    3. Rear Seat Reminder System (RSRS)
This system alerts the driver if a passenger or object is left on the rear seat when leaving the car. The alerts will include: a warning in the cockpit meter and, subject to model, after locking the car, also hazard lamp and an audible buzzer will activate.
    4. Toyota Teammate Advanced Park
This system controls the acceleration, steering, braking and gear shifting* to help you park safely. It can even memorise your favourite parking spaces that aren’t defined by lines or adjacent objects. *Depending on model
    5. Panoramic View Monitor (PVM)
Parking is easier and safer with this system which combines the images from four cameras to create an almost 360° view of your surroundings.

Sustainability

An environmental pioneer

Toyota C-HR has a focus on sustainability, with increased use of recycled materials as well as a reduction in carbon emissions through weight-saving and new production processes.

Sustainability
  1. More recycled
    1. Driver standing near to the Toyota C-HR charging.
      More recycled
To reduce Toyota C-HR’s environmental impact, the recycled plastic content has been doubled compared to its predecessor. Recycled plastics are used in more than 100 components, including the seat covers, floor mats and luggage boxes. New processes also reduce the carbon emissions associated with manufacturing.
    2. A second-life philosophy
The Toyota C-HR makes use of recycled plastics, reducing the amount of raw material required and the quantity of waste produced. The seat covers are made from recycled PET plastic bottles, with 100% recycled PET used in the woven textile and 45% in the suede textile. The floor mats contain at least 78% recycled materials.
    3. Close-up image of the steering-wheel
      Lower lifetime carbon emissons
The Toyota C-HR’s steering wheel is wrapped in an animal-free material that looks and feels like leather but with lower lifetime carbon emissions.
  2. Simplified manufacturing
    1. Location image
      High-tensile steel
The Toyota C-HR’s bodyshell takes advantage of high-tensile steel in key areas, increasing impact protection and durability while reducing weight. Using this material also simplifies manufacturing, reducing carbon emissions*. *High-strength steel in the B-pillars delivers a 10% CO2 reduction (-3300 tonnes per year) from resource extraction to vehicle end of life
    2. Exterior view of the panoramic roof
      Lightweight solutions
The spectacular panoramic glass roof is lighter than a traditional panoramic roof. It also features advanced coatings that retain warmth in winter and prevent overheating in summer, reducing the amount of energy required to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature.
    3. Toyota C-HR showcased against an urban backdrop.
      Made in Europe, for Europe
Toyota C-HR is produced by Toyota's advanced European plants. Just as the car has been engineered with the environment in mind, so the supply chain has been designed to limit the amount of transport required.
    4. Close-up image of the exterior of the vehicle focusing on the paint finish.
      A bright future
Toyota C-HR takes advantage of moulded-in colour technology, for a luxurious high-gloss finish without the need for paint. A 566-tonne CO2 reduction* has also been achieved by switching to more efficient robotised painting processes using water-based paints. *Annually, at TMMT

Frequently asked questions

Electrified power: your questions answered

Toyota started the hybrid revolution more than 25 years ago and continues to drive for a world with lower emissions. Hybrids combine electric drive with powerful petrol engines for effortless performance and convenience.

Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid vehicles incorporate very similar technology – but with a key difference. Both switch seamlessly between two power sources, an efficient petrol engine and a self-charging Hybrid battery, however Plug-in Hybrid vehicles feature a higher capacity battery to deliver greater electric performance

The new Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid can travel exclusively in electric mode for up to 66km* – emission free. If travelling for longer distances and its battery runs out of charge, your vehicle seamlessly switches back to operating as a Hybrid car, combining petrol and regenerated battery power to get you safely to your destination.

*WLTP data

Plug-in Hybrids can save drivers money in many ways. With a fully charged battery, a Plug-in Hybrid can travel up to 100 km on as little as 1 litre of fuel. Low CO2 emissions in Plug-in Hybrids often result in road and company car tax discounts, as well as exemption from city centre charges. And due to less wear to parts like brake pads and discs, they can be cheaper to maintain too.

Toyota Plug-in Hybrid batteries are engineered to last for the lifetime of the car. For added peace of mind, every battery comes with a five-year/100,000 km* warranty which – with an annual Hybrid Health Check – extends battery cover for up to 10 years. When a battery reaches the end of its life, Toyota’s take-back scheme ensures it is dealt with safely and responsibly.

Frequently asked questions

Electrified power: your questions answered

Toyota started the hybrid revolution more than 25 years ago and continues to drive for a world with lower emissions. Hybrids combine electric drive with powerful petrol engines for effortless performance and convenience.

Switching seamlessly between a combustion engine and efficient EV drive, Hybrid vehicles incorporate two energy sources: a petrol engine and an electric motor.

Hybrids can use electric power to pull away and even cruise at speeds up to 50km/h. Because most Toyota Hybrids are self-charging, when the battery runs low, excess power from the engine charges it back up again.

Hybrids feature pioneering, self-charging battery technology. They are known as ‘Hybrid-electric’ vehicles because they have two energy sources. This means that unlike pure electric vehicles and Plug-in Hybrids you don’t have to plug them in to recharge their batteries.

The pioneering battery technology in a Toyota Hybrid is engineered to last for the entire lifetime of the car. In fact, some mechanical elements such as the clutch, alternator and starter motor are removed completely, further reducing the risk of unforeseen costs in the future. Not only that, all Hybrid components, including the Hybrid battery, come with Toyota’s 5-year/100,000km* warranty from new. *Whichever is soonest.

There are three types of Hybrid electric vehicle: mild Hybrid cars, full Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrids. Mild Hybrid cars only use their electric motors to support the engine during acceleration and cruising as the electric motor cannot power the car on its own. In a full or self-charging Toyota Hybrid, you can enjoy pure electric power for up to 80% of your city journeys, with cruising speeds of up to 50km/h. Plug-in Hybrids work in the same way as a Hybrid but with a higher capacity battery for greater electric performance.
