The RAV4 is a milestone model for Toyota, as it was the vehicle that created the SUV segment. After five generations and more than 15 million sales worldwide, it now enters its sixth generation, incorporating the latest in advanced technology. In terms of design, the dynamic front styling and sculpted silhouette highlight both its off-road capability and its authentic SUV identity. The new RAV4 maintains similar dimensions to the current model.
The new RAV4 will be available in the European market in both plug-in hybrid and full hybrid versions, meeting diverse customer needs while showcasing Toyota’s multi-path strategy towards carbon neutrality. The plug-in hybrid variant features a high-capacity 22.68 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering an extended electric range of up to 100 km and faster charging. For example, on a 50 kW DC charger, the battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes, thanks to an improved cooling system that helps maintain optimal temperature levels.
The new battery is paired with an upgraded front electric motor delivering an additional 16 kW, for a total output of 200 hp. Combined with the improved internal combustion engine, the new RAV4 produces a total system output of 304 PS, accelerating from 0–100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds. Power is transmitted through an automatic transmission and Toyota’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system (AWD-i). For the first time, the plug-in hybrid RAV4 will also be available in a front-wheel-drive version, delivering 268 hp.
