The new Toyota Proace Max offers a wide range of options

To meet every need

The new Toyota Proace Max marks Toyota’s entry into the large van segment in Europe. It joins the updated Proace, Proace City and Hilux to create a complete range of light commercial vehicles for the brand.

Like the other models in the Proace family, including the mid-size Proace, the compact Proace City and the passenger Verso, the new addition is available with a fully electric powertrain that offers instant performance and smooth driving comfort. At the same time, it stands out for its impressive load capacity and a variety of configurations that meet a wide range of business needs without sacrificing practicality or reliability.

In terms of design, the front section attracts the most attention, introducing a new design identity for the Proace family. It features a sleek body-coloured upper section that wraps around the matte black grille and flows smoothly into the bumper. The full LED headlights add a dynamic touch, while the fog lights include a cornering function for improved visibility. Sixteen-inch alloy wheels, available on higher trim levels, give the Proace Max a stylish and modern appearance.

Inside the cabin, the electric version includes a ten-inch high-definition central touchscreen, which is also available as an option on the diesel versions, along with a seven-inch digital instrument display on the electric model. The multimedia system supports wireless smartphone connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the driver can also benefit from cloud-based navigation and voice recognition functions.

The Proace Max is available in a range of sizes, giving Toyota customers the flexibility to choose the version that best meets their needs. It is offered in six configurations, with two wheelbase options measuring 3,450 millimetres and 4,035 millimetres, three overall lengths of 5,413, 5,998 and 6,363 millimetres, and three heights of 2,254, 2,524 and 2,764 millimetres. The load volume ranges from 10 to 17 cubic metres.

The vehicle’s gross weight starts at 3,300 kilograms and reaches 3,500 kilograms for diesel models, while electric versions range from 3,500 to 4,250 kilograms depending on configuration. In both cases, the maximum payload is 1,500 kilograms, and the maximum towing capacity for diesel versions is three tonnes.

In terms of powertrain options, the electric Proace Max delivers 270 horsepower and 410 Nm of torque. The battery provides a driving range of 420 kilometres under the WLTP cycle, enabling the vehicle to handle all daily tasks efficiently. The driver can choose from three driving modes, including Eco mode, which reduces engine output to 163 horsepower while significantly extending range. Additional kilometres can be gained through the regenerative braking system, which offers four selectable levels of energy recovery.

The 110 kWh battery can charge from zero to eighty percent in less than one hour using a 150 kW fast charger.

Three diesel versions are also available, all powered by a 2.2-litre engine. The entry-level version produces 120 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. The next version, delivering 140 horsepower, can be specified with either a six-speed manual gearbox offering 350 Nm or an eight-speed automatic with 380 Nm. The most powerful diesel option produces 180 horsepower and is available with the same transmission choices, making it ideal for demanding heavy-load transport tasks.

The Proace Max is also offered in open-bed and tipper configurations, as well as cab-chassis (C+C) variants suitable for a wide range of custom body applications. Finally, it is available with a second row of seats providing four additional positions, allowing the vehicle to carry up to seven occupants.
