Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid 220

Greater electric range

When the Toyota C-HR first entered the market, it became a milestone model for Toyota, bringing the brand closer to an audience that values unconventional design, distinctive style, and Toyota’s renowned quality and reliability. Today, its second generation continues this successful formula in the best possible way, offering even more solutions to prospective buyers.

The new Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid 220 incorporates pioneering technology that enhances the efficiency and electric range of its system, particularly for urban driving — addressing the needs of European customers. Specifically, when used exclusively on city roads or in urban environments, it achieves a pure electric driving range of between 97 and 106 kilometers (WLTP EAER City), depending on vehicle specifications.

The Predictive Efficient Drive system uses data and information from previous journeys to optimize the operation of the PHEV system, delivering greater efficiency. The system analyzes road and traffic conditions via cloud navigation, combining this with continuous learning of the driver’s usual routes and driving style.

The vehicle automatically switches between hybrid and electric modes to maximize electric range, particularly within low-emission zones.

Another feature of the Predictive Efficient Drive system, called Predictive Deceleration Support, helps reduce energy loss during deceleration, thereby improving fuel economy. By using information from past trips and navigation data, the system identifies points where deceleration is likely and automatically increases engine braking force.

When the vehicle is driving on highways or uphill sections that require additional power, the system proactively switches to hybrid mode to charge the battery in anticipation of higher energy demand. The system becomes increasingly efficient as more kilometers are driven, allowing for progressively more effective use of electric power.

With the Plug-in Hybrid 220, efficiency is further enhanced when the vehicle is plugged in. A battery heating system reduces charging time, improving the vehicle’s EV range in cold climates. During operation, the battery is cooled when necessary, while an innovative heat pump air-conditioning system minimizes the impact on electric driving range by using thermal energy from the air to heat the cabin.

The Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid 220 features an advanced PHEV system consisting of a 163 hp (120 kW) electric motor on the front axle, powered by a high-performance 13.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, alongside a 2.0-liter petrol engine producing 152 hp (112 kW).

The new Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid 220 is offered with a benefit of up to €7,500, subject to government grant approval for the purchase of a plug-in vehicle. This means that, from its original price of €38,500, it is now available from €31,000.
