Technological collaboration between Toyota Gazoo Racing and Haas F1

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) and the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team have announced an agreement for a technical collaboration in Formula 1. Through this partnership, both parties aim to contribute to the advancement of the automotive industry by creating an environment in which young Japanese drivers, engineers, and mechanics can gain experience and develop their skills in the FIA Formula One World Championship, the pinnacle of motorsport.

The announcement was made at Fuji International Speedway, a circuit owned by Toyota. The Toyota Gazoo Racing logo will appear on the Haas cars driven by Nico Hülkenberg and Kevin Magnussen at the upcoming United States Grand Prix in Austin next weekend.

More specifically, Toyota will take on the role of technical partner for the Haas team. It will provide design, engineering, and manufacturing support, while Haas will in turn offer technical expertise and commercial benefits. The agreement also includes the participation of Toyota Gazoo Racing technicians and engineers in the aerodynamic development of Haas’s Formula 1 cars, particularly through the production of carbon fiber components.

Additionally, Toyota Gazoo Racing drivers, engineers, and technicians will take part in Haas test sessions, gaining Formula 1 driving experience and training in the analysis of vast amounts of performance data.

The company will also continue its involvement in its two main racing programs, the World Rally Championship (WRC) and the World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Toyota is a company with a strong history in Formula 1. It entered the sport with its own team in the 2002 season and competed for eight seasons as both a constructor and an engine supplier. Toyota withdrew from Formula 1 in 2009 to focus on other forms of motorsport.

During its time in Formula 1, the team achieved 13 podium finishes, secured fourth place in the 2005 Constructors’ Championship, and its drivers accumulated a total of 278.5 points, along with three pole positions and three fastest laps.
