TGR Achieves First and Second Place at Rally Chile

The TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team secured an impressive 1-2 finish at Rally Chile, with world champion Kalle Rovanperä claiming victory ahead of his teammate Elfyn Evans.
But this wasn’t the team’s only success in Chile, TGR also dominated the Power Stage, taking the top two positions, and swept the Super Sunday classification, locking out the top three spots.
With this performance, the team became the first in the championship to achieve the maximum possible 55 points for manufacturers under the new scoring system introduced this season.

Rovanperä’s victory was hard-earned in a rally marked by challenging weather conditions throughout the weekend.
The win reduced the team’s deficit in the championship standings to just 17 points (down from 35 before the event), with only two rounds remaining in the season.
It was also Rovanperä’s 15th win behind the wheel of a Toyota WRC car, matching two-time world champion Carlos Sainz as the drivers with the most rally victories for Toyota in the FIA World Rally Championship.

Elfyn Evans and his co-driver Scott Martin delivered another strong performance, returning to the podium for the fifth time this season.
They led the rally on Friday morning and held the advantage until foggy conditions on Saturday afternoon shuffled the order.

By contrast, it was a weekend of misfortune for Sébastien Ogier and Vincent Landais, who were forced to retire following a technical issue. However, they demonstrated their world-class pace by winning all of Sunday’s stages, securing valuable championship points for the remainder of the season.
Both Ogier and Evans remain mathematically in contention for the drivers’ title heading into the final two rounds of the championship.

Sami Pajari and Enni Mälkönen finished in sixth place in their second outing behind the wheel of the GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID. The crew will contest another event in the top category at the upcoming Central European Rally.

After the finish, rally winner Kalle Rovanperä commented:

“It was a tough weekend, and it always feels good when you really have to fight for a win. It wasn’t easy at any point with the weather conditions we faced, but we did a good job. A big thank you to the team, our car was really strong all weekend.”

The next and penultimate round of the season will be the Central European Rally, taking place from October 17–20 across the challenging roads of Germany, the Czech Republic, and Austria.
