Major updates for the new Toyota Yaris Cross

Since its market debut in 2021, the Yaris Cross instantly became a standout in the rapidly expanding European B-SUV segment. The result was immediate: it not only topped sales in its class but also became Toyota’s best-selling model in Europe. Yet, Toyota never rests on its laurels. The company has introduced a series of meaningful upgrades, building on the model’s dynamic strengths that propelled it to the top of European sales, making it even more appealing to prospective buyers.

The updated model is now available exclusively as a hybrid, powered by a 1.5-liter engine. The highlight of the lineup is the new Hybrid 130 version, making its debut for the first time. This new system incorporates key elements of Toyota’s latest fifth-generation hybrid technology, delivering enhanced performance, power, and responsiveness.

Thanks to refinements in the Power Control Unit (PCU), overall output has increased by 12%, with power rising from 116 to 130 hp. Torque is now higher across the entire rev range, with peak torque up by 30%, from 141 to 185 Nm. This addition broadens the Yaris Cross range, catering to drivers who want a compact vehicle that doesn’t compromise on performance. The new Hybrid 130 system is available in the Elegant, Premiere, and GR SPORT trims.

At the same time, the Yaris Cross continues to be offered with the well-known 116 hp hybrid system, the engine that built its reputation for exceptional performance and fuel efficiency. This version helped position the Yaris Cross at the top of European sales in its segment and recently set a new record in What Car? magazine’s UK fuel economy tests.

Inside, the new Yaris Cross maintains Toyota’s high standards of quality, both in material selection and finish, showcasing the craftsmanship of the Japanese manufacturer. Comfort, ergonomics, and advanced technology are immediately evident the moment you step inside.

Access to information, connectivity, and entertainment now delivers a completely new digital experience for the driver. The updated model features a customizable digital instrument display, which can be configured according to driver preferences, along with a faster, more responsive multimedia system that offers a wider range of functions.

The displays are among the largest in the segment, with a 7-inch or 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch to 10.5-inch multimedia touchscreen, depending on the trim level. The system also includes the “Hey Toyota” voice recognition assistant, which can recognize the user’s voice and carry out spoken commands.

In terms of safety, Toyota has made it a priority to ensure that the Yaris Cross is the safest vehicle in its class, equipping it with an extensive range of active and passive safety technologies. The model benefits from the Toyota T-Mate suite, which integrates advanced systems designed to make driving and parking both safer and easier. It also features the latest generation of Toyota Safety Sense, previously available only on larger models, along with additional measures to reduce noise and vibration for an even more refined driving experience.

Built on Toyota’s GA-B platform for small cars, the Yaris Cross combines agility, exceptional handling, a low center of gravity, and high body rigidity. Production takes place at Toyota’s plant in France, ensuring European-built quality and precision.
