Toyota Land Cruiser: The legend is back

The Land Cruiser represents an important chapter in Toyota’s heritage. Since its first introduction in 1951, it has built a legendary reputation for its reliability, luxury, and exceptional off-road capability. The new generation is already in the spotlight, continuing this proud tradition in the best possible way, equipped with the finest technology that Japanese automotive engineering has to offer in comfort, safety, and connectivity. These are just some of the reasons why the model enjoys a loyal fan base in every corner of the world.

The new generation is built on Toyota’s GA-F platform, which provides 50 percent greater rigidity compared to its predecessor. It has been developed to match the character and demands of the Land Cruiser, offering both comfort on the road and unmatched off-road performance. Its dimensions (length 4,920 mm, width 1,980 mm, height 1,870 mm, and wheelbase 2,850 mm) make it a large vehicle that offers generous space for both passengers and luggage.

The exterior design of the new Land Cruiser exudes dynamism and immediately reveals the model’s impressive off road capabilities. With a more contemporary and modern aesthetic, it retains the unmistakable Land Cruiser identity while incorporating retro design elements inspired by previous generations.

At the front, the squared triple headlights stand out, along with the bold rectangular grille featuring the Toyota logo, the pronounced wheel arches, and many design details that emphasize its strong off road character. At the rear, the large tailgate dominates the view, while the distinctive side step makes entering and exiting the vehicle easy and comfortable. It is worth noting that Toyota has designed many of the body parts to be easily replaceable in the event of minor damage.

Inside, the new Land Cruiser offers a clean, modern, and high quality environment. The spacious and ergonomic cabin has been equipped by Toyota with the latest advancements in comfort, safety, connectivity, and off road capability. The large digital displays for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system immediately draw attention.

The driver also benefits from an extensive range of off road assistance systems. In addition to differential locks and low range gearing, the Toyota Land Cruiser features technologies such as Crawl Control, which allows the driver to set a desired low speed pace for off road driving while the vehicle automatically adjusts torque distribution for optimal traction. Also available is Multi Terrain Select, with driving modes including Mud, Sand, Rock, Dirt, Deep Snow, and Auto. The Panoramic View Monitor, operational at speeds of up to twelve kilometers per hour, provides a full 360 degree view around the vehicle, even showing what lies directly beneath it.

Both in Cyprus and across Europe, the new Land Cruiser is available exclusively with a 2.8 liter turbo diesel engine delivering 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque between 1,600 and 2,800 revolutions per minute. It is paired with an eight speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled four wheel drive system.

Also available is a special collector’s edition called First Edition, limited to only 3,000 units for the European market. It features a distinctive Bi Tone exterior color scheme and stands out with its round headlights, exclusive badging, and an even stronger off road character. The First Edition also comes with a panoramic roof, leather seats, a JBL sound system with 14 speakers, a Panoramic View Monitor, and many other premium features.

For the record, the Land Cruiser began its story as a prototype named Toyota BJ. It made history in 1951 when it successfully climbed to a remote point on Mount Fuji, a place no other vehicle had ever reached before. In 1954, the BJ was renamed Land Cruiser, marking the beginning of its legendary journey in the global market.
