Where quality leads, safety follows
Top in active safety
The Corolla Verso has been designed with great attention to active safety, with the features described below coming as standard:
- Further braking force is provided by a combination of Brake Assist ([BA] ), Anti-lock Braking System ([ABS] ) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution ([EBD] ).
- The Vehicle Stability Control ([VSC] )* and Traction Control ([TRC] )* boost vehicle stability safety, under low adherence conditions such as rain, snow or gravel, by increasing braking power.
- The [MacPherson strut] and rear torsion beam suspension gives excellent road holding and stability.
- Improved visibility is provided by the redesign of the front pillars, electro chromatic rear view mirror & rain sensitive wipers.
- Cornering assistant monitor - The cornering assist monitor improves driver visibility using a camera in the front grille and colour display screen to provide visibility of objects approaching from left or right.
- Parking assist system - The parking assist system uses a rear camera to display colour images from the back, with helpful guiding lines.
Top in passive safety
Passive safety is provided by innovative, best in class features:
- The Corolla Verso's strong, rigid body structure is combined with Toyota's Minimal Intrusion Cabin System (MICS). The MICS is a sturdy safety structure that minimises cabin deformation in front, rear and side collisions by absorbing and dispersing impact energy.
- Nine airbags for all occupants come as standard. This includes a knee airbag to protect the driver, and dual-stage inflators on both front seats. Side airbags provide additional safety, and curtain-shield airbags offer protection to front and rear passengers.
- All the Corolla Verso's seats feature the Emergency Locking Retractor seatbelts. Front seatbelts incorporate pretensioners and force limiters. Second row seatbelts are equipped with the Automatic Locking Retractor mechanism, which makes it possible to secure a child without using a seatbelt locking clip.
- Anti-intrusion brake and clutch pedals improve lower leg protection for the driver by decoupling in severe frontal impacts.
- A two-stage visual and audio seatbelt warning system, for both front passengers, is also standard equipment.
